Okay, I haven't had the sugery yet. My last appt is on OCT3rd and the dietan wanted me to lose 9 pounds before sugrey. I don't have a date but they are guessing end of oct earlier nov. Well I'm freaking out because since I seen her last on the 5th I have lost and gained the same 4 pounds. But as of today I'm down 3, but tomorrow it will problay be 5 haha. Anyways I'm getting scared that they won't do the surgery because of the weight gain. I have lost 2.5 inches in my wasit since the 5th, but the weight isn't coming off. I am doing an hour of cardio/kick boxing everyday. And my diet is mostly protein shakes to kinda get use to no food. I gained 15 pounds after having my galbladder taken out and I can't seem to get it off. I'm not sure if I am worried about nothing or what. But I am freaking out big time. The dietan said if I could just lose the 9 I would be ok. Any suggestions or comments would help. I have Dr. lalor in bowling green ohio if anyone else has had a weight gain before surgery. And what happen?

When my surgeon told me I had to lose 30 lbs in the 6-month preop diet, I thought she'd punked me. I thought there was no way I was gonna be able to do it. But I wanted this surgery BAD and knew that any straying from the plan would put me further away from going forward - so I did it and lost 40lbs preop! Stick rigidly to what they're suggesting. If you still aren't losing, up your exercise and/or lower your calories. Good luck!

Daily log your food and exercise.  Get a minimum of 64 oz water per day.  You don't want to get too much of a caloric deficit which can lead to drastically lowering your metabolism.  With 1 hr/day of cardio you could be expending 700+ calories.  If for example your Basel Metabolic Rate (BMR) is 1500 calories per day (depends on gender, age, weight, & individual situations such as activity level, meds & of course WLS) and you exercise 700 cal per day, then you should take in minimum of 800 calories in food.  Don't drink your calories.  Make solid protein a priority and cut out simple carbs (anything white such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar, etc.).  I give myself one "cheat" day per week when I eat simple carbs.

These are some of the rules that you will follow post-op.  If you can comply now, it will prove to the surgeon that you will be able to comply post-op and have much greater chance for success.

Good luck!

Unless your plan is specifically stating liquids.. you might want to go towards more solid dense protein. No refined carbs, but lots of vegetables. You need the carbs for energy to continue the kickboxing!  Also, WATER, WATER, WATER! It helps you dispose of the waste (insert fat) that you are creating.
I hope you are logging and paying close attention to what you are eating. If you aren't getting enough calories your body will slow down and not allow you to lose weight.
Keep up the good work! You CAN do this!

Thanks, I don't log what I eat because my dietan never required us to do that with cals just with portein. I have a week before my finail weight in and now I'm down 4 pounds. I only drink water and skim milk. I know I'm not doing good at getting 64oz in. More around 50. It's making me mad as well, my body hurts so badly, but I keep on going. I cut out all sugar items becuase my sugar kept dropping to low and now I don't have an issue with that anymore. All I know is my tired, but can't stop. Thanks for all of your ideas I will give them a try. Ohh I guess I am down .5inch in my arms, 1.5 in my bust line and then the 2 in my wasit......GRRRR lol
