Hitting a wall with my protein powder

I've hit a major wall with my protein powder. I've been drinking it well enough, but within the last week, I'm repulsed by the thought of drinking it. Just the thought makes me gag a little. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes....except it happened to me right after surgery.  I literally could smell the box of
protein powder that was sitting in my dining room from the living room!  Everytime I passed
by it I felt like hurling.

I rarely drink a protein shake, now.  I work hard to get it all in through food and skim milk.
Needless to say, I eat LOTS of cheese, meat and dairy in order to do so.

I found that having them really cold helps. I have a one serving size pulse blender that I add about 5 or 6 ice cubes to the shake and blend it just until the ice is not in big pieces. Then the flavor is better and is more like a frappe (to me!!). Make sure that you don't just blend, or it gets foamy. Turn it on for a second and then let the ice sink back to the bottom and hit it again. I still do it this way

GOOD LUCK!!!

This happened to me also! (it actually has happened to me with quite a few foods). For the protein drinks, I find that making them then sticking them in the freezer for a bit helps. Not long enough to let them freeze, just so they're veryyyy cold. It makes them go down a lot easier.

I really tolerate the health wise hot drinks best. They have hot chocolate & capacino, each with different flavors.  They don'taste like protien to me.

Yeah, I recommend you switch to hot protein for a while it really helps. Nuke a 1/4 cup of milk for 30 seconds, throw in a scoop of protein, mix well, then top sloly with decaf coffee or tea.

I use Syntrax cappuchino, but plain vanilla will do.

My surgeon's plan never called for any protein supplements-he wanted protein to come from food.  If you absolutely cannot tolerate them, talk to the surgeon's office and see if you can stop using them (but don't stop without their permission!!)

I get most of my protein from food, but there are days when I have one or two shakes instead of eating. I usually have one for breakfast since it's quick.

I am 8 days post op and having the same problem.  I have tried different kinds, but, they all make me gag!  I can't wait to see my doc tomorrow, hoping he will let me get my protein from food. The shakes are awful!
Good luck to you!
