Thank you for sharing this Kelly. I am always looking for an interesting documentary to watch while I'm on the elliptical in the morning.

This is something that is such an unbelievable hardship for small farms. The large farms that produce soy and corn get massive subsidies, and the little place I get milk from gets a pittance. BUT they still have to jump through all of the hoops in terms of farm conditions and food processing requirements.

Meanwhile the FDA is completely okay with huge feedlots feeding cows dead cows (yes, they put beef tallow in industrial cattle feed) and pumping animals full of antibiotics thereby creating drug resistant bacteria. Our food supply is not grown or protected as it should be and we are a sick country as a result. Truly a shame.

But hey, just pop this $50 pill and you'll feel better! (My eyes just rolled out of my head.)
Oh, what they feed the cows is terrible.  Feeding them dead cows is not the worst of it.

I can't for the life of me get my head around the idea that industrial farms feed cattle corn and then wonder why they get bloat and other illnesses. They're feeding them something that they literally cannot digest all because it is cheap to grow. So stupid.

Oh, I think they know why the cows get sick.  They just don't care, as long as they still get fat (if they are being raised for meat) or produce milk (if they are raised for dairy).  The dairy industry actually did a study to determine how much of a dairy cow's diet could consist of stale bubble gum before it began to affect the cow's milk production.  Apparently stale bubble gum is very cheap and they feed it to the cows without even unwrapping it.  The study found that up to 30% of the cow's diet can consist of stale bubble gum before it affects milk production.
