My Ferritin

Hey Tamara, I asked about the benedryl and the Dr called me back and said that in the infussion center they have benedryl and steroids if you're having a reaction.  Thanks for the question, it was a good one. Better to be prepared. 

I have these 4 hour infusions every 12 or 18 months without any problems at all. I feel great within days and hold a good ferritin level for longer than most who have the "mini" infusions over weeks ...

My worst level before an infusion was < 2 (non detectable by lab) and I felt like crap! Totally my fault for putting off my labs for a few months ...

Holy moly Kim <2?!! He said I would have a standing order for blood work at the lab for every 3 months. So we will see. Thanks for all the responses. This is why I come here.

 Could this also make you bruise easily?

 You'll feel so much better. The infusions weren't bad at all except one time when they blew a couple of veins and one rolled on them. I had to reschedule. Not trying to worry you but to make you aware. 

Be sure to water load, I was slightly dehydrated. Being hydrated is very important.

Yes, I had to water load for 24 hours before each infustion (I had 8 last year).  Otherwise, they could NOT get the IV started.  Good luck!  Even though I had the infusions and my hemoglobin & hematocrit levels are back to normal, my ferritin is still non-existent.
