Sorry to hear you're going through this. It sounds like you need a new surgical team to work with. :(

I really think you need more calories than 300-400 per day. That is WAY too low lose weight. I think I had my surgery a couple of weeks after you, and I'm averaging 600-900 calories/day. Some days I feel like eating more, and other days, not so much. I'm also averaging 65-90g protein per day, and lately, it's been on the higher end of that range.

 Carmen,
I'm sorry this has been so difficult for you. As the previous posters have said, you probably are NOT getting enough calories. I think that your surgeon has forgotten to factor in the fact that you are a revision so there is no hard and fast rules regarding what you SHOULD lose. We are all so different, he really shouldn't compare you to any other patient.
Since he is doing a comparison, why don't you ask him to take a look at your pouch and make sure he made it the right size, that everything is as it should be instead of putting it all on YOU!!
As much as I hate to suggest that you not listen to your Doc, maybe it would be better for you to find a good support group and try to work your plan without the feed back from your surgeon echoing through your head. Obviously you need to have your follow up care handled by him but, just don't let that negativity get inside you.
Boost your calories, increase your protein where you can and give yourself a break.. good luck.

Did this genius do your sleeve, too?  It sounds like he doesn't have a clue about WLS but even if he messed up you should still be losing weight if you aren't over eating.  The others are right.  Even though your metabolism is probably messed up from the starvation dieting the only way to fix it is to eat more and let your exercise bump up your metabolism.  It may take a while but I have really seen where you need to eat more (of the right things) in order to lose.

Go crazy with the protein.  I saw early out how the people who got the most protein lost the best and kept it off so I made a decision to get in at least 100 grams a day and I wound up losing too much weight.  I also get in at least 100 oz of fluids.

You have gotten excellent advice.  You can also find another NUT who is better versed in working with WLS patients.  And find a PCP who is knowledgable and supportive about WLS, too.  You don't need your surgeon to follow you if you have a good PCP to do your labs.

I was a revision, also, and I failed a very malabsorptive procedure.  I totally expected to lose weight slowly if at all.  In fact my surgeon warned me several times that I may not lose any weight.  I had my revision to correct issues from the malabsorption, not to lose weight.  I wound up losing faster and more then I did the first time and I think it was because I focused so much on protein.

Don't be discouraged if it seems like it isn't working to eat more.  Just be patient and have faith.  As long as you are getting in your protein and following the post op way of eating you will lose weight eventually.  Just give your body time to get over the shock of actually having food and it will happen.

Your doctor is expecting you to lose 50-60 lbs, 2 months post-op?  I am a slow loser and lost 23 lbs my first 2 months. I do agree with others, that you're not getting enough calories in. I was eating about 600-800 calories at 2-3 months out. With your low calories, you are putting your body in starvation mode.
Have you had your thyroid levels checked to rule out hypothyroidism? That would be another reason for slow weight loss. Your surgeon should be able to order those for you and if they are abnormal, an endrocrine doctor will be the one to manage it.

No frickin way, dude.

Forget calories. Worry about getting a minimum of 65g of protein per day. I PROMISE you that will keep you plenty busy!

I lost about 50lbs my first month and 22lbs regularly after that for quite awhile. I couldn't possibly tell you the calories I ate, but I know it was more than 300 for sure.  I certainly had no issues losing!

Being a revision, you'll lose more slowly but even 10lbs a month is fast compared to "normal" people. Perspective.

Have you thought about adding veggies to your diet? My doctor's motto is eat your veggies first and protein second. The most important being green veggies. I am three months out and have lost 100 pounds on his diet. Your doctor is trying to restrict your calories too much.

Don't let that whackadoodle doc and his nuts NUT derail you. they are feeding you a line of crap.

You aren't eating enough. You need more. Please, please find a NUT who is more knowledgable.

Also, please clarify your loss. As a previous poster pointed out, it looks like you've lost more than 6 pounds.

Step away from the candy. It won't get you where you want to go.

As the overs have said, the expectation of 50-60 pounds is RIDICULOUS even if you were NOT a revision, and you are not eati anywhere close to enough calories! Your body has dropped your metabolism down as far as it can in order to get as much use out of the very limited calories you are giving it ("starvation mode"). 300 calories is NOT enough! You are endangering your health and you are putting yourself at greater risk for your metabolism permanently being lowered by keeping your calories so incredibly low. You MUST eat more, especially if you are exercising most days. I cannot believe the information your surgeon and nutritionist are giving you. It is BAD information. You should focus on protein intake NOT on restricting yourself to 2 ounces. Your body MUST have protein (remember that we malabsorb some of it), and you do not get enough protein, your body will TAKE IT from your muscles. Eventually, it will take it from your heart (which is a muscle).

Have you seen an endocrinologist to make sure you do not have a thyroid or other metabolic condition? )

Please seek out another surgeon and/or nutritionist. The ones you have are endangering your health!

Edited to add... His statement hat RNY is genetically incompatible makes no sense whatsoever.

NO WAY... I had surgery on May 8th, I eat between 800 1000 calories a day and have lost 70lbs so far and am very satisfied with that... I would find another doctor and nut right away, Your going to make yourself sick and mess your metabolism up big time.
