I am a newbie to the board and a recent Roux-en-y patient. I was wakling prior to surgery and actually worked myself up tp 4 miles. I'm walking short distances daily and doing OK with it but wonder how long will it take to get back to my old routine. My surgery was 11 days ago and I get tired much earlier now. Thanks

I was tired for the first 4 weeks - but I had open.  Take your time since you will have much less nutrition supporting the walking.

Thank you. I had not considered the nutrition.

Zeigled - I just had to say hello after I read your post. I had open gastric bypass too and it seems like there are not too many of us that did not have it laparascopically!

I think I am probably an exception I was back in the gym 10 days post op walking on the treadmill and was released for weights and other exercise at 4weeks since that point I have been in the gym 3-4x per week for 60mins at a time at the beginning I did feel tired but I knew I needed to saty in my routine. I would just listen to your body, it know when it has had enough.

Wow. My fitness level is/was not that high. I hope I can increase my walking  though my body has told me "enough already." Thank you

I feelmlikenyour body will answer that. I was walking and spinning before surgery, I am 1 week out of surgery and I am planning to go to spin tomorrow at 6:30 am. I will not stay after for floor exercises and I plan on taking it a little easier as I will not be able to drink as much water as I would normally in a 45 min class. Good luck to you.

Your fitness level is also higher than mine. I admire you for going to spinning class. I'm 11 days out and my body still says "whoa" earlier than usual. I will try to be patient and continue to pay attention to my body. Thanks.
