I had my RNY on Tuesday and endded up staying in the hospital until Thursday due to some internal bleeding. I am home now though and doing pretty well. Surprised at how weak I am though, and that may just be the blood loss. I am also having some pretty bad back pain...never had problems with my back before. My biggest problem though is getting my protein in. The protein drinks fill me up so I can only drink 3-4 oz at a time. My Adkins Advantage shakes are 11oz and I need to drink 4 per day to get my protein in. This pretty much means that I am drinking ALL day long. Before this wouldn't be a problem but I am just not hungry anymore. Well enough complaining. Overall I am doing pretty well!
Hi! I am 4 weeks post-op and stayed in the hospital for 4 days after surgery. My back pain was intense after surgery. I figured it was because of laying flat on the hard operating table for 4 hours while they performed the surgery. I chose to use Isopure protein powder. I get mine from The Vitamin Shoppe online. Each scoop of powder is 25 grams of protein. I use 2 scoops in my morning shake with about 8 ozs. of water. That gives me 50 grams of protein. It takes me about 1-2 hours to drink it as I sip it slowly. The colder it is the better, I think. I have tried Strawberries and Cream, Peach, Vanilla and also Pineapple, Orange, Banana (my favorite). I mix it in The Magic Bullet and it comes out very smooth without any grit. The flavor is the best that I have had when it comes to protein shakes.
Sip, sip, sip and move around the best that you can. Good Luck :)
