Something of a delicate nature

Well, not so delicate, but perfectly natural.  I'm 19 days post-op and I'm having trouble with constipation.  I have read where some people have diarrhea, but that is definately not me.  I was told to take stool softners daily, but that doesn't always do it.  Makes me feel so bloated not to have a regular bowel movement.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this problem.  Help me out, please.  What do you do or use for this problem?  Thanks.

This is a very common problem. My surgeon allowed me to use Milk of Magnesia. It worked wonders for me. Good luck.

check with your surgeon first, but as the previous post said, M.O.M. could help. You may want to try Colaice. But like I said, check with your surgeon first and see what he/she recommends. Good luck.

My surgeon recommends Milk of Mag, but I just cannot tolerate it.  I'll call the surgeon's office for something else.  Thanks.

I use Miralax most days.  Keeps me nice and regular.  I mix in with my protein drink.

Going to give Miralax a try.  Thanks!

I use Miralax, 2 colace and 500mg mag oxide daily and are safe to use daily. Avoid using stimulant laxatives daily, as they can cause a permanent dependency.

Miralax.  It's magic stuff.  It's a powder and has no taste, you can put it in any kind of drink.  And it's safe to use every day if needed.

If you're really stopped up now, though, I suggest a Dulcolax suppository.  You'll be pooping in less than an hour, probably more like half an hour.  The Mralax is good for keeping you regular but if you're really stopped up already, it may not be enough to get the job done, and it won't work really fast like the suppository.

Thanks for the advise.  I'm going to get the Ducolax suppository and then start the Miralax.  I just cannot tolerate Milk of Mag.  I have childhood horrors of that stuff!  LOL!
