ivc filter

my surgery date is dec 11. excited!! but i am supposed to have the ivc filter put in before my surgery.. but my consulation date for the ivc filter is nov 21. are they going to have time to get it in me? i am hoping they do it the day of my wls. has anyone else gone threw this?

They will NOT do it the day of surgery. It has to be done before that. It is an outpatient procedure that does not even require an OR, so (with my vascular surgeon, anyway) it was very easy to get scheduled quickly. Just be sure they know when your RNY surgery date is.

That should be plenty of time. I had my appointment with the surgeon on 3/21/12, my IVC filter was inserted on 3/28/12 and my surgery was 4/2/12. However, mine was inserted in the OR with a sedative and I was in and out of the hospital within about 6 hours. Good luck on your journey.
