Question about dumping
It doesn't really affect the body the same and certainly doesn't feel the same - "dumping" on fat is like eating something that doesn't agree with you - for me rumbling, cramping intestines and diahorrea - not really multi symptomal like dumping on sugar ...

Yes. Depending on the fat. Animal fat(in moderation) doesn't bother me but greasy fried food with lots of fat will make you dump. I always check the fat content. My NUT said to eat fat in moderation but I have NO restrictions on my diet. But of course for fried foods and sugar. She said I could eat it but I would pay for it. Refined sugar will most definitely make you dump. Chicken, fish, pork (lean) has fat but it doesn't bother me but ground beef does. I also stick to LOW fat sauces, butter, and salad dressing.
I have dumped a couple of times. I am 6 weeks post op. I ate the wrong yogurt (non lite),Special K cereal, and ground beef made me dump. It is horrible!

Actually, many people do not dump on refined sugar.

Also, getting sick from fat is not technically dumping. Protein, even fatty protein, will not make you dump. it just makes you sick. Dumping is a specific reaction to sugar/carbs. Eating too much fat is just like eating something that otherwise disagrees with you... it can make you very miserable but is not actually dumping.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
But like Sin Kim said....dumping has a lot of symptoms so it may be a form of dumping or the food just may not agree with you. The yogurt made me sicker than the hamburger. It was different. The hamburger and it was lean just made me feel gross and like I needed to throw up. The yogurt....well...I had to take to the bed and go to sleep.

Eating too much fat, however, can also cause significant digestive upset (but it usually does not cause the heart racing, dizziness, shakiness). Lots of foods may not agree with people, even if they don't have too much sugar (or fat), but just being sick, as miserable as it can be, isn't "dumping".
