OT - question for crafty people

You know how some dog toys have those squeaky things in them?  Little plastic... thingies... I don't know what you call them.  But when you squeeze the toy, then it squeaks.  Well, my dog loves squeaky toys but he destroys them really fast and I hate to spend much money on something that is only going to last a day.  When I can, I rescue the squeaky thing before he bites it and punctures it, and then I put it in another toy, like an old sock that I stuff with scraps of fabric.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to buy those squeaky things at a craft store or something.  I assume it is but I don't know what to call them or where to look.  I searched for "squeakers" on the Hobby Lobby website and got no results but I'm probably not searching for the right thing.  Anyone know what to call those things or where I might find some?

What you're referring to are just toy squeakers.  You can find them at most craft shops or try  www.sitstay.com

I have 2 Westies and they also chew the heck out of their toys.

Kong brand toys seem to be tougher, I've found. My pug will gut anything with a squeaker but it takes her longer to gut a Kong squeaker toy.

Isaac did destroy a Kong football with a squeaker in it, although it took him almost two weeks to do so.  Most squeaky toys last him less than a full day.

It takes Max only a matter of minutes to completely destroy any stuffed/padded toy with a squeaker. (I have never purchased a Kong with a squeaker, though.) The Scottish Terrier instinct kicks in and he takes his task of destroying the squeaker very seriously. (I, too, rescue them when I can, but sometimes he kills it before I can swipe it.)

Check on ebay. I looked not too long ago, and they have them in at least 3 sizes. Low, medium, or higher quantities are available with these, and they're much cheaper than buying new dog toys when the sqeaker is "dead" or rippout out of the toy. DAVE

Kelly, I have a "power chewer", too.  I've bought rope toys, squeaky toys, everything, and he just destroys them immediately.  I've finally gone to Nylabone bone chews:

Nylabone Double Action Chews - PetSmart

He chews these forever, and also loves to play fetch with them.  The great thing is, I don't think I'll ever have to pay for a dental cleaning for him:  he's got the prettiest pearly whites of any dog around, and he's already 5 years old!

He likes Nylabones but he also likes squeaky toys.  I just done wanna spend a fortune buying squeaky toys that will only last him one day.  I think he likes variety, though.  He seems like he gets bored sometimes and then he bugs me.

I like the Nylabones and Kongs a lot because they are nearly impossible to destroy and the Nylabones are good for their teeth and you don't have to worry about them eating a piece of the toy that they chew off.  Although he is good about not eating inedible things.  Except for cat poop.  Ick.
