My only "cheat" was a goodbye meal at one of my favorite restaurants, and other than that I stuck to it pretty closely, give or take an ounce or two of food or protein here and there.  It didn't affect my surgery at all.

my pre op diet lasted 4 1/2 months on a no carb diet.  It helped that I had a print out of what I had to do.  It made me realize that I can go back to it if I have any weight gain problems.  It was supposed to be a 3 month ordeal but delays made it longer and the time wasn't an issue because I lost 35 pounds.  I had two days of liquid diet before surgery.  So, did I cheat?  I don't think so, except I gradually decreased my diet coke habit and haven't cheated on that since surgery.

No, but mine wasn't that tough to follow.  Two weeks prior I was to eat salads or vegetables without the added butter/fats with a lean protein one meal a day and protein shakes the other two meals.  A couple days prior to surgery it was a liquid diet.

I actually was on a 4 week pre-op diet, the first 2 weeks I could have one healthy meal a day didn't matter which meal that was my choice, the rest of the day was protein shakes. The second 2 weeks was all protein shakes, during all 4 weeks I could have the standard SF popsicles, SF Jello, and broth, I did not cheat, not one time!!!!

It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. It requires sacrifice. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's WORTH IT! (Author Unknown). I feel this sums up my ongoing journey to a healthier me!
