Holiday weight loss
How did everyone do with their weight loss and holiday eating. I didn't gain any weight and this past week lost a few ounces. But the week before I had lost 7 pounds. I am only 9 pounds away from goal. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and did well too. This was my first Christmas post rny and I didn't feel denied at all. Blessings to everyone!
I am down a couple of pounds (I am in maintenance and play with the same 5 pounds).
I recently started using 3 protein drinks a day to allow me to consistently get in my protein since dense protein just hurts and is hard for me to eat. Then I allow myself to have small bites of whatever I want...seems to have made a difference even though it is a weird way to do things!

I'm 4+ years out and have managed to stay under my goal weight so far this holiday season. Yay, me!! ![]()

As of today, I'm down another 2 lbs, weighing in at 143. I've been trying to gain weight without success lately and I've put in calls to my providers to get some advice. I'm also working on getting my labs coordinated as I cannot go to my surgical hospital right now because I live on Nantucket island and won't be able to go off-island anytime soon. Hopefully, they can fax the lab order directly to the hospital here, because I'm not happy with my new PCP here and on a waiting list for a new one. I'd much rather deal with my trusted team of professionals than the idiot I have now.
Unfortunately, at almost 3 years post-op, I still struggle with certain foods. I overate yesterday and filled up on the 3 appetizers I made and couldn't eat much of the delicious meal I prepared. Luckily, there are leftovers and I can try again later today, only a little bit. I have a hard time with dense proteins (meats mostly) and even though I chew it very well, things get stuck. Yesterday, I ended up getting sick after suffering for over an hour. I had such painful gas and tried to walk around to get the food to move, but it was definitely stuck. When this happens, I have to force myself to throw up, which I really don't like to do unless absolutely necessary. I immediately felt better afterward, and ate some slider foods to make up for the lack of nutrients and calories.
Today, I am back on track with eating to a schedule and eating good things every two hours. I set the alarm on my cellphone to help remind me to take my supplements and stay on schedule with that. Every time I have to take something (with the exception of my iron, which you need to take on an empty stomach 2 hours apart from calcium and your multis) I have to eat something, even if its a few crackers. It helps with absorption according to the ASMBS.

This is also my first Christmas post op and I actually had a harder time at Thanksgiving that Christmas. I think because I like turkey and stuffing. Christmas we had ham and I really am not a ham person. So I bought a 4 oz lobster tail and cooked that after the ham was out of the oven. My daughter made dessert which was choc. cupcakes and I had tried one earlier in the week and got a stomach ache so I didn't have any. I did make roasted veggies to go with the ham and my daughter made scallop potatoes. I did grab a couple of olives.
Christmas eve I did have some salmon mouse on a couple of crackers. That was the worst thing I ate. Today I am sticking with my protein shakes and will have some of the left over roasted veggies and a turkey patty tongiht.
I need to work on my water intake as I have needed a stool softener and some Milk of Mag this week. ( I will skip those details).
