OK RNY gurus ......HELP I had a kidney stone!
About the only thing you can do, short of taking medication designed to help prevent them (depending on what TYPE of stones you had), is to drink lots of water and make sure that the calcium you are taking is calcium citrate not calcium carbonate (which contributes to kidney stones).
i had not had any in the 45 years prior to my RNY but have had them pass twice (within a 2 year period) in the 5 years since then.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
There is nothing to do except drink lots of water and calcium! I did not have a kidney stone until about a month after my surgery. I've seen a urologist and it's just something that happens after wls. There isn't much to do about preventing them. It's most likely calcium oxalate, the most common type of kidney stones. You should watch how much sodium and oxalate rich foods you eat. Here's a link to some suggestions from Litholink, http://www.litholink.com/downloads/Stone_LowOxalateDiet.pdf
