I've read lots of your posts and I really didn't think you intended it that way - hence my first line ...   I'm a pretty good reader of people and always had you as a good person broken heart and of course, still do!!!

I'm very protective of my single girlfriends, and the reality of today is that internet dating is often the way they (we) have to go - especially when we are of a certain age kiss and maybe have mummy lives and not swinging singles lives or have been married for a gazillion years and find ourselves suddenly single!

I love helping people who are venturing into singledom and dating - and if I can prevent them having to deal with idiots and weirdos - or at least help them identify them while they still have the computer between them and are NOT in a restaurant or bar with them, I'm happy!   BTDT!

Dating is often harder for those who have been obese all their lives - and like the OP, some are in their 30s and 40s and have never dated - very scary having to go out in the world and understand how it all happens.   Same with people who are divorced and have not dated for 20 or 30 years - it's a cruel and predatory world out there sometimes - in the cyber world AND in the real world as your daughter found out!!!

I've done some on line dating. Met a few nice guys and many weirdos interested in me and I wasn't interested in them, and vice versa.

Sweetie let me tell you dating takes time and LOTS of it sometimes before you make that connection. Kim gave you the link to the singles board I also suggest you post and or read it. They helped me tremendously when I began dating.

The thing about online dating is that it's a platform for mass rejection, and you're never sure why. I would agree with any posters above who said that you shouldn't mention the RNY in your profile or before meeting in person. I also know from experience online that, for every normal dateable guy online, there are a good 8-9 crazy people. Have to weed through a lot of weirdos to find anyone worth pursuing. Good luck, and try to stay positive!!
