Two week liquid pre op diet
I only had to do liquids for five days. Full liquids.
a) I drank Atkins protein shakes and ate yogurt, broth, cream soups, pudding, and popsicles. I don't know how it worked out calorie wise, I didn't count calories. I just ate/drank what my doc told me to have.
b) Mostly I just ignored the cravings.
c) I don't know how much weight I lost. I didn't weigh myself in the beginning.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
a) We had the option of buying the shakes from the surgeons office OR using these guidelines: 100-150 calories/shake, AT LEAST 15g protein/shake. The shakes at the office were $12/6 pack...too expensive for me (I am a tight wad! lol)
So, I went to BJ's and bought cases of EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control RTD shakes (17g protein, 100 cal vanilla, 110 chocolate and $25/case of 24 shakes). We are to drink 4 shakes a day and can have a 3oz protein and 1 cup raw veggies, or 5 shakes/day. I am doing 5 shakes/day
b) the first 2 days were rough, no lie. Just kept telling myself that this is a means to an ends. Now after day 2, I do not get hungry, and nothing bothers me (i.e. smell of food, commercials, others eating) The shakes and water keep me quite full.
c) So far, and as of this morning I am down 12 lbs, and I am only on day 5! We are required to lose at least 10 lbs during this time or he will not perform the surgery, so I am good!
Good luck to you!

I did the 2 week liquid diet. My plan called for 3 shakes a day and allowed 2 protein bars a day. I used Nutrition Six Protein Powder from Walmart, the shakes came out to be about 180 calories, and about 60 grams of protein. I did not have any cravings during the full liquid diet, but I made it a point to stay away from my family so that I didn't have to watch them eat or anything lol. The plan called for 2 scoops of protein powder, 8 oz of no fat milk and I could add fruit and blend. That made a pretty thick shake, I was full most of the time. I had lost 20 pounds by the pre-op appointment, I still had 5 days of the diet to go by then but didn't weigh again after that so I just say 20 pounds lost on the diet.
