Liquid Diet Issues
So I started yesterday for the liquid diet for surgery March 25. Yes I have to do a month aren't you jealous? LOL I had the worst headache by 9pm I wanted to die. We were out at a event to meet Gabby Douglas and I had the kids and a friend was with us. The kids wanted chick fil a I gave in and said I need to have some food and I need to wean myself into this. The Dr said I can do a small meal once a day and the rest liquids but I was trying to go cold turkey. He said for 2 weeks once a day a meal and the remainder strict liquids only.
Will it get better does my body adjust to the lack of food and the headaches won't be so bad? I don't take meds for anything really and after I got home and got in bed I thought maybe I need to pick up some tylenol so I have it on hand in case a headache creeps up. Pain is no fun whatsoever!
Thanks,
Michelle
Had to share a pic of my daughter Mya on the left and Gabby from last night. She is the reason I have postponed most of the winter because she refused to let me miss any of her competitions and we travel all over the USA and I was scared to travel after surgery so soon.

A MONTH??? Yikes! I feel for you. I'm on day 6 of my 14 days. I thought that was bad. It gets easier everyday. I'm grateful that I can have SF pudding and Jello and veggies with mine. I don't think I could do all liquids.
You can do this!!! Look at the big picture. Plus when I got on the scale this morning and was down 8lbs in 6 days..that was awesome!!!
Sending you positive thoughts and well wishes!!!

I didnt have to do a full month, but I did start a diet that month. I did 2 shakes a day with a balanced dinner. Normally I would have grilled chicken, with veggies, and small salad. Sometimes I found it easier to do my meal at lunch time. Also you can snack on grilled chicken, hard boiled eggs, veggies. They are just wanting you to cut out the starches, bad carbs, cut back on sugar, soda. Do one week of 1 shake, 2 meals, then next week do 2 shakes 1 meal, then the last 2 weeks do your 4 shakes. Its the hardest part of the whole thing. If you need more shake mix, let me know I have a whole tub from their office that I only used one scoop out of. It couldnt stand the taste of it.
Yes, I started my liquid diet yesterday too. I'm not really hungry - just thinking about food a lot. Suddenly seems like fast food places are popping up left and right! LOL! Two good things I did already thought. One, I quit drinking diet sodas or carbonated anything to prepare for not being able to have it after surgery. That was tough. Then I gave up caffeine about six weeks later. Never have I had such a bad headache as missing the caffeine!!!
It certainly is hard to feed the kiddos when you can't have it too. One friend who has had bypass said she had to not stay in the room while they ate for the first few weeks because her "head" hunger was horrible.
My liquid diet is for the next week and if I meet the surgeon's pre-surgery weight, then I can schedule!
Yes that tub stuff is gross my friend gave me hers....YUK!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone I am going to make this work. Heck I better lose at least 15 lbs doing this HAHA
