How long was your surgery?

My surgery was about 2 hours and I was in recovery for about 1 hour.

If you have someone that could pick up your kids and keep them till that evening, I would probably plan to make that happen. Then your hubby doesn't have to run around and can be with you. Hope you can get it all planned out! :)

Thinking good thoughts for you!

Michelle, I am so excited for you to get this surgery!  I understand with children you have to make plans but also plan for the unexpected.  I will only use this as an example:  I went into surgery at 1:30 in the afternoon had to be re-intebated again in recovery, surgery took longer due to tight muscles in my abdomen (ya, it was that six-pack thing going on hahahha) and didn't even get up to my room until 9:30 that night.  My husband was worried sick and no children to worry about and didn't have to worry about leaving.   But girl, you will want to plan for ANYTHING.  Doesn't mean it will happen to you, but again you have no control to the surgery, recovery, when you will get out of the hospital, so many unforseens.  But if you are prepared just in case that will be one less thing to worry about.  What if he can't leave?  Have you prepared for someone to take the kids overnight? Just alot of things that we thought about prior to surgery and that is without any kids.  Don't set yourself up with trying to get constant time frames on all of this.  Just have a back-up plan for anything and everything, and when you do then all should be fine for you.  I cannot wait because you have really been waiting to get this done for a long time now.    Best wishes to you always Michelle.  Jane

Mine was about 3 hours i think... surgery around 10:30am also had some adhesions from previous gallbladder removal though but otherwise no complications. I was in recovery a few hours due to bad nausea. I think it was around 4:30pm when i finally got into my room.

We have a neighbor that is picking up my son from school the others are bus and the gymnast will go with her regular carpool group. Everyone has been put on standby in case I need the kids to sleep over and I am packing overnight bags for them. I always think the worst and I worry if I die my husband will be alone so I have another friend that is on alert and I might even ask him to just take a long lunch and come meet my husband so he isn't sitting alone. I think we have all the plans in place in reality I just want to know when I can expect to see my babies sweet faces! Although My little gymnast has already told me it is a week from states she can't miss practice she will see me Tuesday. 10 years old and this dedicated! Praying that this all goes smoothly I have he a umbilical hernia repair and gall bladder removal so far so hopefully I won't have much scar tissue.

I had the exact surgery that you are having last May 17th..  Even with the surgeon doing all three things at one time I was in the operating room for about 2 1/2 hrs.  I was in recovery for at least an hour and maybe it was closer to 2.  I really wasn't in the mood for any visitors after surgery or during my stay and the only person I had there was my wife.  Not sure how young kids will do visiting and not being allowed to hug and be held by momma
