pain on my left side today- is this my spleen?

I have noticed that i have a dull ache on left side. Just now when I was walking, it got downright painful to where I had to stop for a minute. It felt like when you get a stitch in your side when you are running. I have been lying down but the dull ache is still there. Coukd this be a post op issue? Is this my spleen? Are spleen issues something that can occur post op? I had surgert on 2/28. Thank you, Pam

Yes i had spleen issues.   I had a drain tube to drain the fluid off.  It was very painful - on the left side.

Was your spleen enlarged after surgery? At what point do they decide to remove the spleen? Thank you! :)

I had pain on my left side for about a month after surgery.  when it would go away enough for me to exercise, exercise would make it come back!  My doctor told me that is where they push in the instrument to "blow" us up to do the surgery and that is where my pain came from.  I would call your doctor just to be sure they don't think it is anything more serious.  Good luck:)

That makes sense because it was worse when I was walking fast. I will call the dr's office if it gets worse. Thank you! :)

This could also be an intestinal condition called diverticulitis.  Are you in a lot of pain.  Do you have any tugging or pulling sensations.  Can you palpate your abdomen in the area that hurts without causing more pain?  Anyway, I would call the MD on call and let them know about it. 

I took a nap and I feel better. It just feels like mild back pain on the left side now. Yes-I can push in the area and it doesnt hurt. I will look up diverticulitis.

could also be your stomach.  your new stomach is on the left side.  i have occasional pain on my left side.  i thought your spleen is more in the center.  hmmmm.

I had a CT scan which indicated damage to my spleen.  They were going to remove it, but finally decided that it could be drained.
