Arrggh! I have started to lose hair
I am very close to 6 months out and was praying that I was one of the lucky ducks who didn't lose hair. The last few showers, I've noticed a bit of hair in the drain but really didn't give it much thought. Today, it was more than just a bit. It was a lot of hair! Yesterday, my daughter was talking about a thin spot on the back of my head and I thought it was just because I had bedhead and hadn't brushed it yet. With my hair wet, I can see just how thin all of my hair truly is...and that thin spot is REALLY thin!
When I first thought about the possibility of losing hair, I said that I would shave my head and wear wigs. Now that it is happening, I'm not so sure I want to do that. I'm chicken! So, I guess I'll ride this out and see just how much I lose. Wigs are not out of the question, but I do believe the shaving may be? I don't have a nice, smooth, round shaped head. It's flat on the back.
Gosh, my hair is so thin to begin with...

I have baby fine hair and not a huge amount of it, so I was also pretty distressed by the significant hair loss. I ended up losing half of my hair and it was really thin up front on the top of my head (where I could see the thinness every time I looked in the mirror!). I personally think shaving is pretty extreme (you are looking at a LONG time to grow it all back out (and it took long enough as it was)), but I know a couple of people who opted for wigs. One wore them daily, the other wore hers only occasionally.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I'm 7 months out and I lost significant amounts of hair from months 3-6. Just the last couple weeks I have a bunch of new little sprouts sticking out of the top of my head. I had really thick hair and my hairdresser said I lost over half my hair. I could see really thin spots and I had a really thick part line (still sort of do). It is coming back though if ever so slowly.

I have/had really thick hair too. I lost quite a bit so i could see my scalp showing through. I anticipated losing a lot so got a sassy new short, short haircut before the surgery. I think it would have been more traumatic if i had kept the long hair down to the middle of my back. It is now starting to grow back.
I think shaving is extreme, too. A wig would be a better option in the long run.

Biotin did not help with my hair loss, but it did grow me a ton of facial hair and I had to shave my legs every day while I took it. What did help was using a vinegar and water rinse after shampooing. It keeps the scalp clean and healthy and provides a nice garden for new growth.
Like white dove said biotin won't help with hair loss-I haven't had the same issues with the facial and leg hair as white dove has and I can see where the biotin is helping with the new hairs coming in which in theory is great BUT I have waist length hair that is now very noticeably thin with what looks like a very short layer, someone made a comment the other day about my extensions looking ratty...I DON'T HAVE EXTENSIONS.... Now I'm trying to decide whether to live with it like this or layer the crap out of it- for now it's lots of beach waves and headscarves
