17 days post-op and weight loss has come to a screaching hault ?!?! HELP
Hi Everyone! So surgery was on 3/8/13 and I was discharged 3/10/13. While in the hospital I gained 8 lbs (IV fluids), had a little hiccup and was readmitted 3/12-3/14/13, where I gained another 2 lbs (IV fluids). However, once discharged I was rockin' and rollin' on the weight loss, losing 20 lbs in just 7 days (3/14 thru 3/21). However, from 3/21/13 through today (3/25/13), I have only lost .6 lbs! What is happening? Anyone experience this so soon? How did you get out of this hump? Is this normal? HELP! I'm worried!
It's totally normal. You have just had major surgery and a complication and your body is trying to figure out what you have done to it. If you keep on your plan the weight will come off. Your body is in charge here and you will lose at its rate and in its time. Just keep following your rules and you will do great!
We call it the "Week 2 Stall" although it can occur anytime within the first few weeks. You'll likely stall more times than this throughout the process. Just remember that the weight won't come off overnight and that our bodies sometimes need to adjust.
It's hard not to freak out but try not to. In the long run freaking out causes you to do things you probably shouldn't. Just stay on your plan and continue to learn your new healthy habits. Your body will catch up.

I am in the same boat as you. Surgery was on 3/4 and for the past week i have stayed the same. From everything i have read it seems that this is totally normal but i get how you feel. I am totally frustrated. My problem is i just need to hide the scale somewhere so i stop weighing myself all the time i am sure that would help. I am trying to stay positive that it will come off when its ready to come off. Sending positive thoughts your way too.
Some people don't lose consistently they lose in chunks, nothing for two weeks then a decent drop then nothing again for a few weeks and another big drop- just go with it, maybe put the scales away for a few weeks so your not fixating on them and take your measurements once a week.
