Had my phys. Evaluation last week. He said I was a perfect candidate and wanted me to take home questionnaire and return it. Said he would see me in about a month with rough draft letter for my surgeon. A month really???? He sends me an email today saying he noticed I don't always eat breakfast 7 days a week. And that I need to bring a 7 day food journal to my follow up appointment. Also said we need to address a few of my behaviors??? Wth??? I am confused and stressed.

If you're confused, call his office and ask about it.  I don't really understand why he would need a food journal for a psych eval.

I'm not sure why it would take an entire month to write up the evaluation (or why it would only be a rough draft), or why he would need just a 7-day food journal. I think I would call the office and express your concern that he wants to discuss some of your behaviors but does not want to see you for an entire month, and ask to get an earlier appointment.

I often try not to step on the toes of other professionals (i.e. nutritionists), but I'd encourage you to call him for both an earlier appointment and to ask for clarification on what specific behaviors he's concerned about. Maybe a month is sufficient time to change behaviors, if you had clear in your mind what needed to change, but it doesn't sound like they'd been made very clear to you. I'd be concerned about the food journal part - he's not an RD, right? What people are eating is not my place, as a therapist, to address but if we're working on the emotions associated with eating, yes - that info is pertinent.

No he isn't a RD. He didn't tell me in the email what behaviors I needed to correct. I don't see either why it will be a month? He told me that the day I went for appointment. Before I did questionnaire.

I contacted my Coordinator. She said he asks for food journal to make sure I am not skipping meals, and that I have changed my eating habits. It's going to take a little longer for second appointment because he has taken on the other cases for the therapist that is no longer with the program. She said I shouldn't have nothing to worry about.
