Scales are evil monsters. Take your measurements instead.

The best advice I ever got was to take lots and lots of pictures during the process, not just before and after. For some reason, looking in a mirror is not quite as effective as looking at your progress in photos.
That said, I weigh myself daily. I'll be damned if I went through all of this to have 10 or 20 lbs sneak up on me. I want to always know where I am, good or bad. But if the scale is something that bothers you, don't do it.
