new ASMBS guidelines
Thank you so much for this and yay for the bone density scan recommendation. Because of a family history of osteoporosis, it's one of my things and my surgeon has poo-pooed it each time I've asked about it. I don't worry since my PCP will order it for me, but I'm glad that I have this to back me up.
They probably don't recommend that anyone start at that dosage. I wouldn't expect them to, because for many people that would be too much, but they definitely shouldn't be messing around increasing the Vit D dose by only 1000mg per day for someone whose D level is quite low... They should know to bump it up more than that.

How nice that they are finally officially recommended what WE already knew (zinc, Vit D dose, and bone scans)... And you are been on the selenium thing for several years!
My PCP balked at the zinc and something else (vitamin A I think) the last time he ordered blood work (and I posted about how much he freaked out about how much Vit D I was taking!), so I will provide him with the new info for my next set of labs. My zinc has always been fine, and I do take a supplement so it should still be fine, but I still want it checked.
