My girl friend called me she was going to make something after pulling out some pans or dishes she realized there was nothing that she could make for me since I only had surgery a few days ago. I appreciate her thoughtfulness in wanting to make a meal for me and I would have loved it, she is a great cook but now not the time.

I had friends bring over dinners for my family so I didn't have to cook and my hubby could take care of me. It was very sweet of them. I also had another friend come over with cooking light, shape, and people magazines for me to read while I was recovering. I always felt funny making people things when they had surgery gave birth etc. But after all the kindness that was shown to me I will do what my one friend did come over with pizzas from a take out place. No worries if they like my cooking LOL!

My parents came to help nurse me back to health after complications from surgery. In the meantime my mom also cleaned the house, took care of our 6 dogs, did laundry, and before leaving for home ( many states away) cooked meals for my hubby to freeze & reheat.

Surgery was 12/26/12, so plenty of family around right away. The following week, my sister came to visit. We went shopping for, prepared, and froze double batches of 4 different recipes. Prep took just over an hour, and I had 8 meals in crock pot liners, ready for the family to make. Sister had RNY 10 yrs ago, and would not cook for her family for years! I also knew that I was helping my family to eat more healthy, as I improve my own health!
