OT - went to appt with surgeon
I"m going to talk to the surgeon's office in the morning. If I understood the surgeon correctly, there was a possibility of being awake for the procedure, not sedated. He was recommending being sedated, I think mainly because of my PTSD. but if I can be awake, then I can drive myself there and home. I realized a cab would be really expensive since I'd have to take a cab both ways. He said he would prescribe pain med afterward so I could take those as soon as I got home.

I'm glad you went and that the surgeon was understanding of the PTSD issue. I really wish this had come up a few weeks earlier so I could have come up to take you to your biopsy while I was off work for me knee, but I have to go back to work next week, and after being off for 7 weeks, they aren't going to be very flexible about me taking time off for a while.
I'm sorry this is so difficult for you. Hopefully you can get the date you need to have your friend go with you.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I understand that everyone else has jobs and stuff and it's hard to get off work. I just feel sad that it doesn't seem to be important enough to anyone - and I don't mean you - to get the time off.
I really hope the biopsy comes back OK because if it is cancer or something serious, I don't think I'd be able to get anyone to take me for treatments and stuff even if I wanted to pursue that.
I feel depressed because I feel like, if I was a better person or something, I would have people that would make it work to be there with me. And I am depressed because I'm going to have to try to do the procedure without being sedated, while other people (like those that had more people that cared about them) would get to be sedated if needed. But I don't get that.

I sent you a PM.
Please know that, no matter how it feels (and I truly DO understand the feeling), the situation is not a reflection on your character or value as a person. You have a very kind heart and deserve support, love, and help.

Where in PA are you? I think it would be a super long drive for you. I don't know if this would seem weird or not, but it would be fine with me if someone wanted to stay overnight at my place to avoid a really long drive there and back on the same day. Isaac (my service dog) would love to make a new friend.

FIrst of all, I am so proud of you for doing something you didn't think you could do in spite of your severe anxiety. I've been thinking about you a lot as I am off for a diagnostic mammogram myself in the morning due to some pain and what feels might be a lump.
Second, I am not all that far from you. I'm just north east of Akron. My life is lacking any degree of flexibility to help you out right now, but I'm so impressed with all the people that are willing to step up and help from the online community. I am so sorry you feel so alone from all this. People can be very selfish and it bites that you can't get someone to be there in your time of need. I don't know why they won't let you take a cab. I hope you find a good solution, the last thing you need is anxiety over the ride home.
They might let me take a cab. I have to ask tomorrow. It would be super expensive to take a cab from where I live to the hospital but I could probably get a cheap hotel room for the night near the hospital and the cost of the hotel plus the cab would be cheaper that way then it would be to take a cab all the way from where I live.
I don't mean to say people are selfish. My feelings are hurt because the people I would like to think would be there for me, really aren't right now. And I don't mean people I only know online. I mean, my family. "Real life" friends. And I know people are busy and have jobs and can't just take time off whenever I need a ride. But what is one supposed to do when they don't have family or anyone to help?
