Rant! So sick of people telling me how I should eat!

I'm so sick of people who know nothing of WLS trying to tell me what I should be eating!  When I was 2-3 weeks out my thrush was in FULL FORCE!  Everything tasted absolutely nasty!  There were days when I didn't eat at all!  I know that was bad but literally everything tasted like puke in my mouth.  So during that time I tried to eat different things but I couldn't.  I ate a toasted peanut butter cracker and it actually tasted great and I was able to keep it down.  MIRACLE!  So I do eat crackers from time to time.  I only eat a couple. I don't consider that bad at all.   Anyways, when some people found out that I was eating crackers they started talking **** about me!  "What am I doing? I'm screwing everything up! I'm never gonna be able to stick to it!" Screw them!  It was all I could eat temporarily.   Be in my shoes for that day and tell me what you would have done.  It was AWFUL how I felt.

So the other day I tried a scrambled egg and a piece of turkey bacon.  I got SO SICK!  It all came back up.  Well, I talked to a couple of my friends from work about it and then one of my other friends calls me and says...."So what's up with you eating bacon??  You know you can't have that!"  I went OFF!  It was a piece of turkey bacon. I tried it!!  Thats' it!  I didn't eat the whole damn package!  WTH?

I know that I just need to quit talking to people about what I eat.  I know thats the answer.  I just can't believe how so many people think that they know EXACTLY what I should be doing!  OMG!!  And to top it all off, my friend told me that it was going around at work that I'm eating bacon and not taking care of myself and blah blah blah.  You know what I say to that **** off.

I'm taking care of myself more now than I ever have.  I am trying foods out to see what I can eat and what I can't.  I'm eating healthy.  My anger is on overload right now.

I go back to work on Friday and I always say that I am an open book and I am but I am keeping a lot of stuff to myself for awhile.  I'm just not in the mood for these skinny *****es to tell me what I can eat when they have no clue what I went through.

and why can't you eat bacon? esp turkey bacon? Bacon was a staple for me at one point for about 2 mo. I ate it for either lunch or dinner most days. I didn't stop losing, I didn't get sick, nothing bad happened. I can't eat it now as it makes me feel sick but for that time it worked. Mind you I didn't fry it in grease in a skillet and eat it with grease running off my chin lol. I cooked 5 pieces in the microwave between 2 paper towels that soaked up all the grease. I made it so it was crunchy and snapped into little pieces and it helped me past my crunchy salty craving I had for a bit. It is protein, perhaps a bit higher in fat then some want but it isn't as if it's a carb laden food that you shouldn't be eating on a high protein low carb diet.

I have also eaten a saltine cracker or two here and there to get over nausea for goodness sakes it has a whopping 12 calories in the brand I eat per cracker and around 2g of carbs. It sure beat feeling sick to my stomach. I also used a couple in my meatloaf. When looking at the protein/carb ratio between the ground beef and egg vs 2 crackers I wasn't uber concerned and again it worked for ME, even if it was against my doctor's plan. I didn't eat them mindlessly, I accounted for every bite, I made a conscious decision to eat it, and it isn't a trigger food for me so no harm no foul.

We each have to live by our doctor's plans, but we also have to learn to think for ourselves and figure out what works for us, does this mean that we should eat a donut at 2 weeks out? no i'm not saying that. But we do need to figure out how we can get the max benefits during the honeymoon period, not feel so deprived that we resort to binging further out, and we need to learn habits that can take us through the rest of our lives successfully. If I see a negative impact from a decision I make whether it be weight gain, getting sick, or losing control I need to modify that. I don't want to treat this as a diet, I went into it knowing it needed to be a lifestyle change.

Screw the food police, just don't bother telling them anything.

I usually have 2 crackers everyday. I use the whole wheat, low salt, reduced fat ones with my tuna or flaked chicken. What's the big deal? They give me some fibre & 1 gam of protein :)

Just ignore the naysayers!

One of the hardest things to do when you are a newbie is to NOT share your surgery and lifestyle with ANYONE that will listen!!!   Honestly, most of us become the biggest bores to whoever knows we have had the surgery (I was very guilty and actually eventually got to notice when my husband's eyes would glaze over LOL).    However, like putting a post on here, if you put it out there, you have to be prepared to hear opinions you don't want to hear ...

Now if someone comes up to you when you are eating something and offers an opinion, you are at liberty to tell them to **** Off - tell them Kim said it was ok  broken heart!
