I am 6 weeks post op and have lost 23 lbs and i feel like it's not enough it seems like a lot but my weight drags by .2 of a difference or up to a pound gain every day... it's frustrating! I know i had to stay off the scale everyday but that is no easy task either especially after WLS. It's hard not to compare to other people who have lost over 30 pounds by the point i am at. I am also only really intaking fluids and 2 protein shakes/day i may have 1-2 meals a day usually 1/4 cup each meal and all protein. I am having an endoscopy Tuesday as my surgeon thinks i have an ulcer and i do to. Fluids hurt to get down all though pain meds are helping a bit with that right now. How did you get over the feelings in the beginning of thinking this wouldn't work for you and you were not losing enough weight? How did you get over not comparing yourself to other people?

I think you weightless is on track, you are averaging 4 lbs a week!

the most important thing is to follow your doctors recommendations and take are of yourself.

good luck,

You are doing just fine. You have lost an average of 4 pounds a week. When have you ever done that before? Average weight loss is 3 to 5 pounds a week so you are doing great! Just keep following your surgeon's plan, getting protein and fluids in and you will succeed. And stay off the scale! Once a week on the weighing really leads to much less frustration.

Take heart. Everyone loses at a different pace.
Comparison is the enemy of success. You will lose if you continue with a protein forward, high water intake lifestyle. Move your body. If formalized exercise is out for whatever reason, move as much as you can.
You don't give your starting weight bug generally those with more to lose do lose faster at first.

That is a great loss. And keep in mind, even if you have weeks where you lose 1 - 2 lbs, It is still more than what you were losing before you had surgery. Keep up the good work.

I asked my doc if my weight loss was on track or slow.  He said "remember we are after healthy weight loss" .    I have to admit I love my doc.

I felt the same way. I still do sometimes. It does start to not be such an overwhelming feeling once you feel like you've made some progress towards your goal. I am still very worried that I won't lose enough during my honeymoon period, but am becoming more comfortable with this new way of eating at 4 months out.
