RNY on 04/08/13

I had my RNY on 4/8/13. My plan from the NUT shows puree and soft food by 3-4 weeks. I am starting the third week. My diet looks like this:

Today

2 cups decaf coffee

64 oz water

Greek yogurt 4oz

60oz protein from shakes

2 tbs refried beans with melted cheese

Greek yogurt 4oz

I have lost 20 lbs but that was a week ago. No loss within the past week.

Am I doing what I am suppose to do at this point?  I have had a rotten cold so I have not exercised each day. I am afraid I will not lose weight or I am eating wrong.  This is probably silly.

I have a similiar post just above you asking if people that what I ate was normal.

I am going on 4 months and just started soft/minced food. I feel that I am able to eat more then I should, but I am just listening to my body.

Your question is not silly. I think its quite normal to be uncertain - it is something new we have to learn. It is common to have concerns and doubt.

I would love to give you advice but really dont have any. When I was at your stage I would eat a yogurt, and 1/2 cup of soup twice a day, maybe a jello or a pudding.

Let me know how it goes and good luck!

You're going on four months post op and just started soft food?  Why so long on... what, pureed foods?

I think she meant four weeks.  On her previous post she said she was one month out.

Looks OK to me. I was 6 weeks yesterday & have found that I need to watch my carbs so I probably would not have 8 oz of yogurt & refried beans in the same day. Are you exercising? That makes a big difference.

RNY 3/11/13.

Thanks, I did not think about the combined carbs of yogurt and refried beans.

All carbs are not created equal - carbs from dairy and beans are not the same as the carbs in cake, bread and pasta!

I don't see anything wrong with having yoghurt and beans in the same day - I'm sure many vegetarians would struggle if this were a rule!!!!
