Swim club membership...thrift store again...NSVs!!

YEARS ago, we put our family name on a waiting list for our neighborhood swim club.  At the time, we were told that it was a LONG list.  As the years passed, we forgot about it.  A few weeks ago, the owner called to let us know that our name was next, and asked if we were still interested.  YES!  So, we paid and are now members.
That being said, I had no swimsuits that fit!  At a consignment shop, I found one two-piece skirted suit (size 18) that looked pretty nice.
Yesterday, I went to a thrift store to find more clothes.  I found three more swimsuits, but this time they were size 16!!  I have gone from a 24W to a 16?! WOW!  I am in shock.  I got a few capris, a denim skort, two summerish dresses, and several tops...all for $33!!  All in VERY good condition, also.
While out shopping, I tried on some cute shoes for an event coming up.  For most of my life, I've worn wide, even double wide shoes.  I know that my shoes are feeling loose, and I bought one pair of tennis shoes that aren't a wide width (thinking it was just that style), so I didn't really give it much thought.  I could fit some really cute shoes.  I'm afraid, though...this could be my addiction transfer!!  Shopping!!!  lol  As of now, I'm ok with thrift store and consignment shopping, but when I reach goal...what then?!??
An NSV...I have to move the mirrors, as well as the seat forward, and steering wheel down, in the car after my husband drives my car.  I used to just leave the mirrors, and move the seat back, and the steering wheel up a bit.
Oh, and another NSV...I can sit in the bathtub and have bubbles all around...not just in the front and back of my body!  :)  I LOVE bubble baths!
I want so badly to fly, so that I can buckle up without an extender!

Congrats. It is always so nice to be able to find those little things that make you so happy. I remember the first time I could jog 1 mile with out it hurting, Now i am doing 3-5 miles at a time with a pace of about 12 mins a mile.

This Saturday, I'm doing a 5K walk/run with my daughter to raise money and awareness for the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc.  We will be walking.  I'm 52, had aching hips and knees prior to surgery, and wonder if I will ever be able to run?  I may try, later in my weight loss.  Who knows...I may become a runner!  I do want to get back to bike riding, so that may be something I can do...ride in a marathon.
Congrats on your running!  That is fantastic!  :)

Congratulations on a job well done!!! Keep up the great job. I will never be a runner but I enjoy doing 5K walks for various charitable events.

I flew for work earlier this month and being able to buckle the seat belt was the best feeling ever.  I hope you get to experience that soon.  Good job and keep up the good work!crying

I am at the final stages of preparation to get my surgery. It's wonderful to read about other people's successes. I decided on surgery because it is so difficult to walk up and down stairs now! I can't even imagine a 5 km walk but I hope to be reporting the same kinds of things a year from now!

We went to a beach a few summers ago, and the house was just across the street from the ocean.  My young niece was terribly upset that I couldn't walk across the street, up a few stairs to a walkway without stopping at the top of the stairs to get my breath.  As we walked along the sand, I'd have to stop every few steps to get my breath.  When she was little, my husband and I would take her to the beach, so she remembered running and playing with me...I was younger and much thinner in those days.
I understand, and was in your shoes not too long ago.  You WILL feel better and be able to do SO much more.  My only regret is that I didn't do this years ago.
Good luck to you and stay on here.  The vets on this forum have been very helpful, informatively and emotionally!
