Hi everyone,

I'm new to the group and I am 4 weeks post op today.   I have just started phase 3 of the diet and I'm having issues with vomiting.  I made just plain lean ground beef and I was able to eat about 3 baby spoonfuls and it was okay.  But about 45 mins after eating I vomited it up.  I'm so thirsty but I;m afraid to drink anything due to vomiting.  Any suggestions for me?? Advice??

Everyone's system is different, but I am 5 months post op and I STILL cannot eat ground beef without feeling ill. I would say it might just be a little soon for your tummy to eat that. Give it a week or two and try again to see if it helps, or if it is just something you just don't tolerate well. Good luck!

Dunno what to tell you on the drinking/vomiting front, but re: lean ground beef, I've found adding diced tomatoes helps oodles.  I tried it alone first and it hurt, but when I mixed my leftovers with the tomatoes things sat much better.

Hope you feel better soon. :(

I have found that ground turkey is much easier (and way less calories) than ground beef :)

Ground beef is pretty dense early out and pretty dry. The first meal of ground beef should be about a teaspoon spread out over a couple minutes and chewed well. Once we've vomited we're to go back to liquids for 24 hours so nothing is damaged from the vomiting and you don't do it again. Sip water and tea, don't over do it. Your pouch probably isn't healed up completely yet and you don't want to irritate it again. Go slow and start again in a day or two but pick a protein that's less dense for your meal, make sure it's moist and only eat a bite or two and then wait to see how it sits.
