Milk vs. water?

I was wondering, do any of you make your protein shakes with water instead of milk, and if so, what's the taste and texture like? My stomach just cannot take the froth anymore.

I have. It foams more with water and it is not quite as thick. I think milk gives it slightly more taste, but not a great deal more. If I run out of milk I won't hesitate to use water.

I think most taste better with milk.  I have used water with the Chike iced coffee and it's pretty good.  BSN Lean Dessert protein comes out pretty creamy made with water.  But for the most part I prefer milk.

How are you making them and what brand are you using?  They can get frothy made with water as well as with milk.  If you shake gently in a cup with a lid, you get less foam.  Some brands I think mix better in a blender, though, or  need shaken quite vigorously to mix in the liquid well.

If you let your shake sit in the fridge for a little while, some of the foam will disipate.

I use Matrix and mix in the blender with 4 cubes of ice. With water the foam will fill up the blender and will not fit in the the cups I use without letting it sit a while. Milk does not do that.

I use half water, half milk and a lot of ice then blend.

for extra protein, I use skim plus milk...it adds another 11 g of protein...the Syntrax Nectar shakes (I buy on Amazon... good price. great delivery) mix readily w/o blender.  no chunks.  very very good.  my son makes them with water or almond milk cuz he is lactose intolerant

I tried using water, but the taste was not nearly as good. If you want something different, try Syntrax Matrix. I've used their lemonade and fruit punch, mixed with water, and love them. They have other fruit and tea flavors, and they don't froth the way that the chocolate and vanilla type powders do.

I'm having trouble finding Syntrax Matrix fruit punch, only chocolate and vanilla flavors. Any idea where I could find the fruit punch? Thanks.

The fruit punch is hardest to find. I've bought all of mine online, from whoever has it cheapest. Amazon has it, but not cheap. I always pay about 34 dollars. I think the last time I bought it was from Super Supplements.
