About a month into the RNY I asked my self what the hell did I do to myself....3 months out now and it was the best decision of my life!!! It was a rough 2 months but after that I am feeling great!!! I chose RNY because I  have (HAD) terrible heartburn and my doctor told me RNY would be the best!!!

I have no regrets except I didn't research the options more. I didn't know about the DS at all and it was never brought up to me as an option. At the time I only knew about Lap Band, RNY and Sleeve.  I do wish I had known about it and had the chance to weight that in as an option. I really don't like how disappointed in the taste of food I am but at the same time it helps me to not over eat. The Sleeve was not an option since I had terrible Acid Reflux and my insurance Company wouldn't cover it.

My sister had the sleeve March 2009 and I RNY May 2009.  We are both at goal with no regain.

Long term, it is probably 20% surgery choice (lap band excluded) and 80% about lifestyle change.

Did you both lose at the same rate? Did either of you have any problems/complications?

I am a little over 7 months out. I have no regrets. I did my research prior and weighed my options for well over a year before I requested to get the surgery. I had no major issues, I love my progress and relish every stall and dumping episode (which have been few because I am determined to eat healthy). The surgery has done a great job with getting me back on track and enforcing and reinforcing healthy eating habits. This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. A few ladies who work in my building had other procedures done for weight loss and after seeing my progress each of them asked me why I chose RNY. Each of them keep telling me that they wish they would have elected to have RNY instead of the procedures they had done. I am very happy with my progress and my choice.

Just over 3 years out from the RNY and would have gotten the DS if I knew then what I know now.
