I just ate a cookie dough quest bar and am dumping something fierce!!! It really has nothing bad in it. Is there something hidden in it to cause me to dump like this??

The only one I can eat is the brownie with no sugars and even that is very dense. You need to eat 1/2 bar slowly without liquids.  Allison

Sugar alcohols like malitol and xylitol are often in those type of things and they make me dump much harder than actual sugar does- I also went through a weird thing for a couple of months were my protein shakes ( muscle milk lite) were also making me dump, I'm very anal about reading labels so it had me stumped but its stopped now.

The quest bars are low in sugar alcohols and pretty healthy!

Curious.  I looked at the nutritional stats and there is only 1g of sugar and 1g of a sugar alcohol, so there isn't anything in it to make you dump.  It is more likely that you are just feeling sick because the protein bar did not agree with your body.  Even at 6 years out, I can only eat half of one (more than that makes meI start to feel nauseous).

Lora - I dumped on dose. Badly. For some of us  - the so called "fiber" our body sees as pure sugar.   Some people can eat them and are fine - some like  me and many more - get sugar reaction to them... They were even reviewed by some diabetics - who wanted to verify that the are really low carb - and some people in the group got also severe BS increase after eating a bar that suppose to have no sugar and fiber only.  The theory is that some people ma have bacteria in their gut or stomach that can turn the so called "fiber" into sugar...

After I dumped - I tried and ate one first thing in the morning and monitored my BS - After eating one bar - (and nothing else) My BS raised from 94 to 200 in 30 min after I ate the bar... I was dumping  and MY Bs started dropping - like crazy - and in 1 hr 25 min later - I had a severe RH -

Wow... how odd.   Thanks for sharing that.  My question would be whether the people who manufacture the Quest bars are being honest about the contents of the bars!

I will have to see what info I can find on the isomalto-oligosaccharide they use as fiber.  Will let you know if I find anything interesting...

The bars don't make me ill (unless you count feeling very queasy if I eat more than half of one), but I am intrigued by the fiber breaking down into sugar concept.

this is the interview . There are also some other people - "normal" on amazon who claimed that the bars raised their BS level.

In any case - if you want to know how the bar (or 1/2 it ) is affecting you - try testing your BS before the bar (best on empty pouch) and then every 10 min after.  (if you do not have a meter- maybe you can borrow one?)  The results on me shocked me.
