I bought one a couple of weeks ago and love it.  I am almost 6 years out, though, and would not recommend it for someone just out of surgery since it is intended for use with fruit which is high in carbs and the sugars may bother some  people very early out.  That early out, your focus needs to be on getting in PROTEIN not fruit.  A regular blender would be better if you are going to grind up other types of foods to mush.

Oh I know, I just remember seeing someone on here saying they froze their protein and used that. I remember her saying it was good for those just put looking for a different way to get the protein in. Thanks for the reminder on the fruit though

You can freeze 75% of whatever serving size you are going to eat of protein and mix it in a regular blender with the other 25% of the shake so it is still 100% shake. Be sure to freeze it no larger than a standard ice cube.

I HIGHLY recommend the Breville Hemisphere blender. It has not only the smaller, inner blades, but larger blades that go all the way around the pitcher so that it truly mixes instead of having to pulse and then put a wooden spoon or spatula down to keep things in motion, which I find truly vexing to deal with.

Have had my Breville for years and LOVE it! A handheld blender is not a good choice for frozen drinks.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
