TMI- Is it an issue

So I am getting in at least 64 oz of fluid sometimes more and 60 grams of protein and all my vitamin supplements. I have been adding 1 serving of fiber (benifiber) once a day to a protein shake.   I have had diarrhea quite a bit today.  I don't have any other reason to be worried about dehydration.  Feel fine otherwise.  Is this just normal since its only fluids in and I just had surgery on Tuesday.  Not really concerned just figured I'd see if I should be? Maybe I don't need the benifiber.  I was just really worried about constipation since I see on the board a lot thats an issue.  I am also walking more I think total I got in about 1.5 miles today in short 0.2 - 0.4 bouts at  a time.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but Benefiber drink packets do that to me, with my normal digestive tract. Maybe use half a packet?

My doctor has told my husband who suffers from chronic constipation that they consider him clinically constipated if he goes more than two days without using the bathroom. So I don't know if the surgery makes it worse or not yet, but if its just a day, maybe eat some cooked green veggies..?

Good luck.

Cant eat anything yet but I think your right perhaps I wont take any fiber tomorrow and see how it goes.  I may not have a constipation issue anyway since I am getting enough fluids and moving around.

Thanks

If you are on a liquid diet, things can be a little loose at first. Once you start eating solid food things firm up. My doctor told me to always put fiber in my shakes after I started eating.

Holy cow! We're pretty much the same days out and I just can't seem to get in my protein. How at you doing it? I just can't get that much in.

2unjury 8oz shakes made with skim milk gets me ther small sips lol. Or three scoops with water. The skim milk adds 8 grams of protein per 8 ozs. So 1 with skim milk is 29 grams

I am 4 weeks out tomorrow and I remember how challenging it was the first week and a half or so. I pretty much woke at 6a and sipped shakes all day long until 9p and drank room temp water. Cold about killed me. See if that helps!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

When you are consuming only liquids, the really isn't anything for your body to create a firm stool out of.  Once you start eating solid food, the stool will firm up.  Not everyone has trouble with constipation.  I don't have issues any more frequently than I did before surgery (which was not often at all).  Depends on your body and what you eat...
