Lunch ideas for travel?

This weekend is the first swim meet my daughter will be participating in since I had surgery. I need to take lunch with me and I am having a heck of a time figuring it out!
We are not allowed coolers of any kind, so it has to go in my purse or crochet bag, and of course that means nothing that has to be kept cold, and nothing that I have to heat up.
Also, I cannot eat protien bars, and I am just shy of 6 months out. Anyone have any ideas? Oh and no high allergy risk food (shellfish, peanuts and the like).
Thanks so much!
Jenn

I travel a lot for work and I often bring the little tuna fish and crackers boxes. There are a couple of different kinds. None of the ones I use need refrigeration. They aren't bad with calories and they have about 15-16g of protein.

Cheese sticks can last a while without refrigeration.

I second the tuna boxes - I just toss the crackers and eat the tuna with the little spoon provided.  Yum!

Hummus also can last without refrigeration for a bit - you can use veggies to dip into the hummus, or just use a spoon (that's what I do).

Pepperoni/salami don't need refrigeration.

I eat cold chicken all the time - although you don't want to keep this without refrigeration too long.  Can you keep a cooler in the car?

Hard-boiled eggs?  They would hurt my belly, but I know some do fine with them.

Good luck and have fun!

I have spent too many hours at swim meets myself...so I can relate.

Have you see the GoPicnic boxed lunches?  They have them at my Target now.  They are organic and natural and some of them are vegan.   One of those could last me the whole swim meet (a meal and a snack at the very least).   https://www.google.com/#q=gopicnic&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo= u&sa=X&ei=xXi7UZ-JFYm08QTH_IDoDg&ved=0CDYQsxg&bav=on.2,or.r_ qf.&bvm=bv.47883778,d.eWU&fp=47667dfc8285802c&biw=1366&bih=6 67

I would bring a greek yogurt, some cheese and crackers and fruits, or a tupperware container with tuna or chicken salad.   If you pack it in your bag it should last for awhile and be okay with out a cooler.

You can freeze items and then allow them to defrost in a baggie so they won't sweat into your bag. OR are there concession machines were you can get a cup of ice and pour a protein drink over it?  You can freeze string cheese and the little tuna pouches are great if you can tolerate tuna.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Coco Lites are one of my mainstays. You can bring some of them and then bring foil packs of tuna when ready to eat. Jerky is also full of protien and needs no special considerations. Sf pudding that requires no refrigeration and a little protein powder to add to it might be good too.

Why can't you take an ice chest and leave it in the car.  When it is time to eat or there is a break in the swim meet that you can leave, go out to the car and eat or take it back with you.  You could have a cold drink for the trip home too.

I purchased a lunch bag that looks like a purse and put flexible ice packs in it so you don't see anything that looks stiff. I carry cheese, little bits of turkey or ham, the store has pepper poppers which are peppers stuffed with cheese and a little prosciutto in them. Also make ham with a little cream cheese and a pickle in a roll up. They all fit nicely into the bag along with personal peanut butter and carrots.
