I hate eating

Eating is so not fun. I use to enjoy eating. I use to live to eat, now I eat to live. It has become such a chore. I have to be reminded to eat, I put an alarm on my phone to remind me to eat and take my pills. I don't like the feeling I get in my throat when I eat. Food doesn't taste the same anymore. I feel like a freak when dinner time comes. I hope this will change.

It does get better! I don't live to eat anymore though, and that is good.

well that was kinda rude!

It does bet better, but our relationship with food changes. It will never be the same.

Would you like to explain why, or how,  Chris's reply was rude?   I thought it was a very factual and truthful answer ...

I have to ask too, why do you feel Chris' response was rude?  It's HONEST and for many it changes and the "it will never be the same" doesn't apply.  As a newer post-op it's difficult to understand, ask the grads how it changes to get a realistic view of what you (general you) are in for long-term.

Her response was not rude at all. Most people do get their hunger back which is why so many people who have RNY gain between year 2 and 3. And some gain it all back which is why it is so important to be aware of this fact so we stay diligent.

Dear MeSheHer(cute name!)

Everything you are experiencing is normal. I do still have this feeling, for example, I still can not eat rice(no big deal) and steak gets stuck! and I eat things that backfire on me . As you become familiar with the new you, it will become an easier journey. Hang in there, be proud of yourself!

I agree-I am one week less from surgery than you are and feel the same way. But I am thrilled to not be hungry and not be 'all about food' in my life.
