How much fat in food?

I start purée tomorrow. I was wandering around the grocery this morning, looking at various labels and wondering how much fat is too much for a new pouch. Or for a not so new pouch. Does anyone eat kielbasa or chicken sausage? That draws me like a moth to a flame. I don't recall how much fat was in a serving, but a serving is probably at least two meals for us.

What does your surgeon's diet plan say?

I will be honest with you, I have not counted or worried about a single calorie or fat gram since starting this adventure... although I know some people are sensitive to it.

But I watch sugar and carbs like a hawk, and I am militant about getting my protein in.

It truly depends on whether your body is sensitive to the fat content in foods.  Give a serving size a try.  Your body does need good fats otherwise you may not have enough internal lubrification.

Good luck in your experimentation.

Our NUT said no more than 10 grams in a meal . Or you could very well dump .

I've not counted a fat gram since surgery-wasn't instructed to.  However, I do generally eat a healthy well balanced diet.  I do eat sausage occasionally, but generally turkey sausage (it is a bit lower in fat and I like it best).

Do what your plan tells you to do, and if there are no fat guidelines then maybe some of the answers you get here will help.  I eat full fat products, never light or low fat, but again, I don't eat that much or very often.

I'm 3 years into maintenance and I've not regained.

I will do half an atkins meal every so often high fat like over 20g but very high protein over 30g for most of their entrees and very low carb/sugar.

The only high fat item I can process is Noosa yogurt. If I have a high fat content meat or cheese, it makes me uncomfortable very quickly and I stop eating after a bite or two. NO WAY would I touch kielbasa, I know I would be sorry.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

My body needs fat. I get horribly constipated if I'm not eating enough of it. I don't worry about the fat content in meats (I eat 2 slices of bacon many mornings with eggs) except ground beef but more because I prefer the taste of the leaner ones. Some cheeses I do reduced fat and others full fat. And a spoonful or two of peanut butter a few times a week. This is the balance that works for me, everyone is different and it's trial and error to find what's right for you.
