I love my pouch when a 6-inch sub makes two meals

Why couldn't I ever have bread, pasta or rice again?  I choose not to have a lot of it, especially not a lot of pasta since it causes me some discomfort.  Bread and rice don't cause problems for me, though.

I can eat 1/4 of subway without the bread on the bottom, but haven't been there in months.  I do eat a half of sandwich 1-2x week. I use 100% whole grain bread, spicy brown mustard, very thin sliced deli cheese and 2 oz of meat! Yum! Just ate a roast beef one for dinner. I don't eat rice or pasta, didn't care for it much before surgery.

I think my surgeon was trying one of the things ****rogirl mentioned last night on another topic, a little "white lie" to get my full compliance with their program.  I happily gave up diet sodas when learning of the effects on your body; candy or sweets was a no-brainer; but to let me know that bread, potatoes, rice, i.e most "starchy carbs should never pass my lips again was a little too much.  I know this entails a total change from old eating habits and am willing to make those changes to live.  Imo, forbidding something only makes it more attractive and crave-worthy.  I am fast learning to also use my brain, personal research in the form of support groups like this and medical studies to make sure the path I am to follow for the rest of my life is suited to my best health.  The surgeon is best at cutting,  and not necessarily living a post-WLS lifestyle.  Their own biases and opinions sometimes takes the forfront in the medical advice they dispense.  I have to keep this in mind for the future.

Either whole wheat or 9-grain oat.

FYI.... Subway will sell you a kids sub... it's 1/2 of the 6 inch.  I'm still pre-op bu****ching what I'm eating and I'll often go in there and order the kids version...  :-)

I never eat all of the bread, but I also get two meals (or, like you, a meal and a snack) from a 6-inch sub.

Since my mom, brother, and SIL are all the family we have (except for an aunt, uncle, and cousin in Michigan whom we rarely see), my mom buys dinner for everyone every Friday night.  Since they all drink and I don't, I get to spend a little more on my dinner, so I frequently get a filet mignon if we go to a nice restaurant.  A 9-ounce filet is three meals or two meals and a snack for me, so I get to eat filet mignon several times that week whereas everyone else either has no leftovers or only one meal's worth.

I wish I could eat bread.  I just don't digest it anymore.  I do miss the occasional sandwich though.....
