Anxiety Meds

Question: if anyone ever took Effexor for anxiety did you have issues after surgery? It makes me sick now & my follow up isn't until Fri so just wondering if there are any ppl that take meds for anxiety if so, which ones?

I took Effexor for depression for many years.  The only issue I had with it after surgery was that I had to switch to the non-extended release version.

I didn't know it was used for anxiety.

I currently take Visteril for anxiety.  It's a medication you just take as needed, not something you take every day, like an antidepressant.

Many medications are used interchangeably for depression and anxiety. Typically if you have anxiety, it causes some depression, and if you have depression, it causes some anxiety.

Intake Paxil daily for anxiety. I have not had any problems with it.

I am 6 days post op and I take 75 mg of the short acting Effexor twice a day. I have noticed the past couple days that I get the withdrawal effects a couple hours before my next dose is actually due. I think it's too soon to tell if this is because I will need an adjustment or if I need to give my body time to adjust itself since I'm so early out. Not much help to you, I know, but thought I'd let you in on what's happening with my experience so far.

Zoloft here. No problems since surgery.

I take Celexa.  No problems so far but I'm just a week out.

So can you take pills even know your on a liquid diet? That's the one thin****ep forgetting to ask my doctor.

I was taking my psych meds in the hospital, as soon as I passed the leak test. I had to break tablets in half, but I could take capsules whole.
