After I have the surgery I want to be able to eat cottage cheese and greek yogurt but the problem is I don't like them. I never ate cottage cheese before or plain greek yogurt  till this week to try it out, not liking them. Is there anything I will be able to put in them to add some flavor so I can tolerate them because I know they have protein ?

First of all, not many like plain Greek yogurt without it being in something or something added in. So I would start out with flavored Greek and move on from there. I was raised on plain, homemade yogurt, so the tartness is something my mouth loves...but I am not the average yogurt eater IME.

As far as cottage cheese, you will be able to eat it, just like the yogurt...the difference is liking/wanting to eat them. Why do you want to eat CC? There are all sorts of other items with just as much protein and a texture that might be more to your liking. I truly love cottage cheese. I have eaten entire tubs of it pre-surgery and 4 oz after surgery is almost a dessert to me. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it. My husband, on the other hand, would die of malnutrition if his only choice was cottage cheese, no matter what it was mixed with or put in. He just cannot stand it for ANY reason. If you cannot stand it, then I'd not try to push yourself to try and like it.

Yep - simply add two packets of Splenda and chop up a bit of fruit that you like...I put in 1/4 of a banana in mine. Tastes fantastic.

Savory:
A few weeks out, when you can start adding light vegetables, you can make Greek yogurt dips with dry dip mixes (ranch, onion, I even made a smoked salmon dip).

Sweet:
Greek yogurt cheesecake or parfaits
-add vanilla & lemon juice and a touch of fine ground lemon zest
Or
- add almond extract
And
- Splenda

If you want to make it really like set cheesecake, add plain geletin (follow package instructions, but go light in the water to dilute the yogurt protein as little as possible).
I like to make individual servings in small glasses or champaign flutes.
- later, when you can have fruit, add a little to the glasses, such as crushed strawberries, frozen/ defrosted sweet dark cherries

I kept hearing about tastes change once we have surgery. I honestly thought that was strange but I have to tell you, never would I have imagined I could eat cottage cheese. After surgery, it was a staple, and I liked it!! So try not to worry too much about foods, you just might like the things your worried about. angry

With as little as I need to eat of something now, I think I can tolerate most anything except eggs and mushrooms ( I will not et a fungus).

I hate greek yogurt.  Do you have Kroger ?  Or a store like safeway that carries that brand ?  I get the Carbmaster yogurt, and it's delicious .  Carrot cake and carmel Spice cake are my favs .  It's 60 cal, 1.5g fat, 3g sugar and 8 protein . Our NUT actually suggested we eat it if we don't  like greek .

Also I had split pea soup from progresso for dinner the other night. Very filling .

We do have changes in taste for a few weeks and then it goes back to normal.  I see a big difference in cottage cheese.  I can't stand the large creamy curd CC but Michigan cottage cheese is my favorite.  I can't tell you why.

I like yogurt more post op.  Some are thin consistency so I mix in a low fat, or maybe No fat cream cheese with a drop or two of vanilla and splenda.  It is fantastic with fruit.  We serve it for our B & B and everyone loves it.

I also make a shrimp dip with cottage cheese, yogurt, touch of mayo/horseradish/hot sauce, dill weed, garlic, minced boiled shrimp.  I eat it with celery.

I add sugar-free dry jello to my Greek yogurt. About one level teaspoon does the trick for me.

I add one of the packets of sugar-free flavored drink powders (ex. Crystal Light) to plain greek yogurt. Tastes delish!!!
