Feel like I'm going to fail

A big change I made after my RNY was I stopped weighing myself except at the doctor's office.

No good can come from you weighing yourself all the time. It's making you nuts.

Today my son was talking about my birthday last year (August 2012). I felt like a million bucks on that day. I'd lost about 60 pounds in 6 months. I was wearing a 14-16 from a 22-24. I didn't think life could get much better than that.

Today I'm down 123 pounds from my highest weight before surgery & I'm coming up on my birthday again. I'm wearing a size 6. I feel like I'm flying above the sidewalk when I go for my walks!

I hadn't ever been an "average size person." I am now!

You gotta have faith!

I wish you only the best!

I know exactly how you feel. I went thru this with my lapband, and expect that I will go thru this with my revision to RNY. One thing I am learning from this great group of ppl sharing their experiences is that there is so much more than just the number on the scale, and I plan on journaling all of my daily NSV's, just to make sure I can look back and remember that when the scale doesn't move, that other successes are happening, thanks to our WLS. Keep your chin up. The fact you shared on this forum is proof that you will succeed.

You WILL get there there a take deep breathe. You are in hormone hell right now you'll see your thoughts and emotions go haywire. Follow your plan, you'll look back in a few months estastic with the changes you are experiencing.

Have you noticed any difference in the way your clothes fit? My docs office told me not to always go by the number in the scale and well quite honestly I just let that one go in one ear and directly out the other just as quickly as it had entered LOL then I my mom kept asking me how much more weight have I lost...so I decided to weigb myself amd reported back to her the results....which were I hadn't lost anymore. That got me to pay attention to the difference in the way my clothes fit and sure enough I had gone down an entire size! Like one of the others I never weighed myself except for at my dr. Appts. However I did recently purchase a scale out of fear that my weight will begin to climb! As my Dr. Says nobody's weight loss is better than anothers and it is not a race! I am currently a couple days shy of 5 months and honestly so severely (understatement) ashamed and embarrassed that I thought I would fail as well! I just keel telling myself h3!! No never again! Just always think about everything we've gone through to get here! Good luck!

I'm six weeks out and have only lost 21 pounds. Try not to be discouraged. It will come off eventually. I know it sucks to see so many people lose huge amounts of weight quickly.

18 lbs is still a great number, but I feel ya... I think the exact same thing, "there is no way that I'm ever gonna be thin again."

Just out of curiosity though, are you getting all of your proteins in ?? I only ask because I thought I was gonna have a bigger loss on my last doc's visit, but it was 5 lbs for a 2 week period. When I told them I hadn't been getting all of my protein requirements in (70g/day), they said that could slow weight loss.

I have to believe that every single one of us has felt like we were going to fail at some point or another.  Honestly, we failed at every other weight loss attempt before this so why wouldn't we believe we would fail this time?  I understand what you are going through and, to be honest, you are not going to fail.  Do what you are supposed to do and you will be just fine.  I am over 6 years out and am still maintaining.  It can happen!!!!

Your hormones are going crazy is what this is! If you follow your doctors plan, log your food and exercise you will lose your weight. I had been overweight as a child even and never a normal weight. I am almost a year out and have lost over 130 pounds. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 0 or 1. If I can do this you can too. Just take it one day and one pound at a time.
