How long after WLS did you have your sleep apnea re checked ?

I have not had mine rechecked, but after I lost about 50% of my excess weight I decided to try sleeping without my CPAP. It seems to be fine. I've been on CPAP for over 10 years and I know what it feels like to not use it when I really need it and so far I have not had that feeling. My wife has validated that I am no longer snoring so I feel pretty comfortable without using it. I don't have the sleeping during the day or during meetings and driving episodes any more either. I have no intentions of paying any portion of a new sleep study. That being said, if you have not been diagnosed with apnea for very long you may not as easily recognize the signs of the need for a CPAP. Also, one thing to note is that you may start becoming more and more uncomfortable with the CPAP as you lose weight since the weight was part of the reason for the amount of pressure you require out of the machine. Since you will have less weight helping you push back against the pressure of the air, it may be harder to breathe/exhale with your machine. Some machines are more advanced or make use of those advanced features and reduce pressure when they detect exhalation so you may not notice. If you are still comfortably wearing/tolerating the machine, I would wait until you've lost 50% or more of  your excess weight.

I've lost 60 pounds from highest weight. I recently turned down the pressure on my machine. It was at a 9, so I turned it down to a 7. That wasn't enough pressure, so I turned it up to an 8 and its fine. I can't wait until I don't need it anymore, but it's nice to be able to breathe under the covers lol.

I was asked to go get checked one month post op. No change. Month 2 they lowered my level from 11 to 8. I go back in Sept to check my data again and see what my readings have been.

Hopefully I can get rid of this unit. They won't stop my usage of cpap unless my readings are perfect for several months.

My apnea seems to be completely resolved, but my stupid doctor won't even adjust my settings, never mind let me stop using the CPAP, until I've lost ALL the weight I intend to lose. :(

I immidiately needed mine adjusted Bc there was way too much pressure. My pulmonologist said for every 10 to 15 pounds lost your level should come down a notch
