Hi All -  So my husband and I will be PCSing next summer from NC to who knows where. I read somewhere ( don't remember where) that after having weight loss surgery you can not PCS overseas for 3 years.   Does anyone know if this is accurate information ?

Also, if you would like to friend me please do !  I love having other military spouses to talk with about WLS issues !

I'm an Air Force wife... That is not accurate at all. You will however have to be approved for the next duty station by the intake coordinator in the med group. As long as there is someone within a reasonable distance that can take you on as a patient, you can go. My husband was assigned Italy..I was accepted (we didn't go) assigned Holland - I was accepted as a patient of a local bariatric surgeon (we didn't go) then the shipped my husband to Turkey for 16 months... I didn't even check cuz I sure wasn't gonna go!
I live in New Mexico and Travel to Phoenix, Az for my surgeries, my band fills when I had the LapBand and now for my RNY and follow up visits. I pay up front and the insurance is supposed to reimburse me. I had no problem getting my money reimbursed with TRICARE, but this will be my 1st try with the new UnitedMilitary insurance.
Good Luck! Feel free to contact me any time

What branch of the service are either of you in? (I saw someone else posted too)
We have been in going on 21 years now and have never been told I can 'Never' PCS with my husband.

Holy crap! I just looked at your tracker... We had our surgeries 5 days apart & you've already lost 50 lbs!!!!! I'm only down 18 and that's with the preop weight loss! Good work!

I was about 240 when I got married. Then got pregnant 7 months later, and delivered at 350 lbs .  The got pregnant again 22 months later and went up to 410 .   I'm a recovering sugar & fast food junkie :)

It's really great to talk with other military wives who have lived being a military wife as a large woman.  The past few years I'd just hidden. Didn't got involved with anything. My husband stopped inviting me to the "family" functions but would take our son.  It got to be humiliating .

That is no one I would want to be married to, frankly. Are you seeing a therapist together to work on his issues and how they impact you? I am really, really sorry for you. Hugs!

HW333--SW 289--GW of 160 5' 11" woman.  I only know the way I know & when you ask for input/advice, you'll get the way I've been successful through my surgeon & nutritionist. Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
