Feeling a bit left out

Realize that you are being a good example for them.  When you are closer to your goal weight you will have a new image that you earned by self-discipline.  That is far more rewarding than a greasy potato chip in your mouth.

I am four months out and find my food cravings now are for things like broccoli or a piece of fruit. Considering I could knock off a bag of Reeses mini's in minutes before surgery this is quite an accomplishment. Hang in there--it gets easier to not want muffins and donuts.

My husbands high school class is getting together in another week at ones beach house for burgers and sides...well I can eat burger but I dont care for it so I won't be eating just drinking my water and I've done that at a wedding reception about 5 weeks out i'm 9 now. Didn't really bother me at all. Most know I've had surgery and I am on reg. Food and chicken is my meat of choice but I'm gradually adding new food but I don't even have the urge to try something out and get ill! I enjoy talking and visiting! I'm from deep south and everything centers around great food so I've had some readjustment to do and it hasnt been as hard as I thought. But I would keep snacks at work if you feel the need to socialize while others are eating you can also!

Why on earth can you not stay at a party if you cannot eat? That makes no sense at all. Have a piece of cheese, cut it into tiny pieces, put it on a plate and walk around. Every 5 people you talk to, have a bite of the cheese. Something like that. No one else notices what you are or are not eating..and if they do, don't give a flying fig about them as it is none of their business what you put in your mouth.

You cannot just ignore life because you cannot eat. Get in there, socialize and don't let food be the focus...have friends at work be the focus!

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

You might have missed my reply to another comment. I don't really care for the people in my department. I did go to lunch with a different department last week. I ate my tiny portion and socialized the rest of the time.

Don't get me wrong. I was sad about the food and felt a little left out. This was the first time there has really been food I can't eat. We had a cheese extravaganza last week and I did hang out for a while before going back to work.

Maybe I'll organize a WLS-friendly party sometime.
