Update from my post a few days ago.. ER visit

So to recap, the pain when I drink, prompted me to call my Dr.. Who sent me to ER. ER did labs & CT scan which showed an inflamed pancreas. The levels are mildly elevated, but I was very very dehydrated. They admitted me 'overnight' gave orders for nothing by mouth (not even ice chips). 'Overnight' became a 'few days' and I was hoping to go home today... Nope! My levels are higher today than when I was admitted. Dr reviewed the CT with the radiologist because I have a cancer history & there was something odd. It turns our, I have a piece of fat that got twisted during surgery & its causing me pain too. Dr said it will resolve itself. In the meantime I'm here for a 'few more days' with nothing by mouth until the blood levels go down. Dr said sometimes pancreas gets inflamed for no reason... Which is what they say mine is & the only way to rest it is not to eat or drink. I haven't eaten since Wednesday I'm ready to be healthy .. Plus I'm stuck in bed, so I'm not moving like I should. I'm happy that its not a complication of surgery at least!

I am glad they have found the problems.  I have had pancreatitis twice, but both times it came on suddenly and was extremely painful, so I spent 5 days each time in the hospital with nothing by mouth but with IV pain meds. Have they checked your gallbladder?  The first time I had it, they officially labeled it as idiopathic (no known cause), but I did have a blow to the abdomen about 2 weeks earlier, so that may she caused it.  The second time, they found gallstones and the problem was a stone stuck in the duct which caused the pancreatitis.

Hopefully you will get out today or tomorrow.

I don't have a gallbladder .. But the CT showed a piece of fat got twisted during surgery & that could be causing me some pain too. They say mine is idiopathic as well... But I've been hospitalized since Thursday & NPO... Today my levels are higher than when I was 1st admitted. The Dr says its not a complication of surgery.. My surgeon is in Arizona.. The bariatric Dr here says the CT shows the surgery was done very well & no leaks or anything. So I feel better about that.... Just ready to be better & home

I am glad to see an update from you, but sorry to read the situation. ACK! And I hate that a piece of fat is causing pain, too! Yikes. Hope you feel better SOON and are able to go home without further incident.

Keep us posted!!
