Past Gastric Bypass no longer working

I don't think I have to defend myself here.  I came here to talk to someone who has had some sort of revision not a dieting coach.  If all of you guys have been through this situation why are you so critical of other people who are looking at it as an option.  Do you not remember from whence you came.  I am 65 years old and have done everything I can think of and I am looking for answers that is all.  Not another person to put me on a diet thank you.  My goodness I don't know how you keep members.  Lora I don't care if she is the best member of this website.  She sure doesn't have a very good member side manner.  She doesn't know my story and what I've worked on or anything about me.  To presume that I have not tried or slothed my way through life is indefensible and very elitist to say the least.  ?

Nothing elitist about my reply.  What I have seen, both here and in my professional life, however, are a LOT of people who experience regain (and once they start measuring portions again and/or stop drinking with meals, they discover that their pouch functions just fine) and a number of people who sought revisions even though an EGD showed that their pouch was a normal size who either did not qualify for a revision because there was nothing wrong with their original surgery, or who managed to get a surgeon to do the revision and still did not get the results they wanted.  That includes two women who both revised from RNY to DS bypasses (they still have their RNY pouches rather than a DS sleeve, one of whom still never got anywhere close to goal (and having dinner with her shows me exactly WHY... she eats far too much and makes terrible food choices), and one of whom did lose additional weight and got close to goal, but then regained around 30 pounds even with the revision.

I don't know you, just as I don;t know 99% of the people here IRL.  All we can base our replies on is what YOU tell us... and what you told us is that there is nothing wrong with your pouch but that you are eating as much as you were pre-op and want information about a revision.  THAT -- and seeing the things that I have -- is what I based my response on.  It was not intended to belittle you.  Perhaps you are extra sensitive about this subject.  A simple response of "no, I don't drink with my meals" or "I have tried eating smaller portions but xxx happens" would have been more productive.

You must think I am new at this.  I am not.  If you have been through a gastric bypass and a revision then you may have something informative that you can tell me.  If not here is some advise for you.  I am sensitive to what people in this kind of situation would want from you and it is not the kind of things you are saying.  You think I an not informed and experienced about where I am at and what I need.  You think you ****ROGIRL are telling me some big new revelation that I haven't heard or tried.  My pouch is 34 years old I know my pouch I know and have lived the regain, the function of the pouch and all of that. I'll bet everyone of these people are coming to this website as the LAST RESORT.  They have all probably been through more than you can ever imagine.  And what they get from you is "you need to work on your portion size and please don't drink while you are eating".  Come on - - think about what you are saying.  That is between my doctor and I.  Who do you think you are?  By the way do you know who ****ro is?  Research girl Research!!!!!

No, I do not think I am giving you any great revelation, but my response was a logical starting point when someone provides no information other than that their pouch is fine but they are eating way too much.

Yes, I know quite well who ****ro was.  I did two Master's theses on ****ro's Latin oratory.

I will be making use of the Block button, so don;t waste time on a reply that I won't see.  That way I don't have to see your insults and you won't have to see any of my responses to anybody about anything. Good luck with finding what you are looking for.

I'm not trying to put you on a diet. Nor am I judging you. We ALL have our stories with how we got to this place in our lives.

I think you are too defensive and maybe your issues are with your conscience and maybe that needs to be addressed before you seek another surgery.  Just my humble opinion, I'm not trying to pick a fight.  I'm not saying anymore.

Pouch works, mal absorption quit a LONG time ago.....now the work.

NONE of the surgeries will let us eat like before and NOT gain weight ! We have a tool not a MAGIC trick !

Good luck on your journey......people really do want to help. But you dont get to choose the message delivery

Are you saying you have had a gastric bypass and now you are going to have a revision?  Finally someone who can help me.

I am trying to find out if that would be an option for me.  Could you tell me where you are at in this process?

I had SRVG not RNY in 1997. My revision is scheduled for 10/3. Story way too long to tell.....

If you get on the revision board there are a ton (pun intended) of revisions of many types.

Once again, everyone's journey is not the same.

We revise for a variety of reasons. BUT,,,,,it is only a tool in the journey, not magic and I mean this in an honest, kind way.

Much greater risks to revise to ANY of the surgeries.

Call surgeons in your area, interview and plan. Discuss ALL your options.
