Labs Review - PA's comments
So I saw My PA yesterday about my 3 month labs. I posted about a week or so ago about my labs. My ferriatin was good but my serum iron , pre-albumin, and vitamin d were a little low. My vitamin A and E VERY LOW.
For the A and E it was a no brainer and she said to do exactly as I had planned take dry A and E 3 times a week (to average 10,000 IU a day) Vitalady shipment is on its way!
The Iron she said not to add more it was a little low only because I was on my period at the time of the blood draw so it was expected. I can take an extra a few days during my cycle in the future.
For the protein since i am getting in all my protein but doing very heavy exercise she says on my big workout days to add a 3rd protein shake. on the other days I should be fine. So I am adding a third shake on 4-5 days a week. I asked her about calorie level as that 3rd shake a day would put me close to 1000 calories a day which seems like so much more then most people at 3 months but she said with my work out and activity load she would be more worried if I was getting less then that as I would be losing body tissue.
Finally the vitamin D she said not to increase. I thought that was weird at first since I was at 54 and she wanted me at 60 at the very least and 80 would be best. BUT when she looked at my level prior to surgery I was at 17 so she thinks that major of an increase on the dose I am taking now should have me at the right numbers by my next appointment in 3 months and if it keeps going up she may even have me back off after that.
ALL in ALL it was a good appointment. She is very happy with my level of activity and my weight loss so far..just over 50 since surgery. I feel great! and have LOTS of energy!

Glad you had a good appointment.
Remind me how much D3 you are currently taking?
And what was your iron and ferritin?
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I am getting about 7600 IU a day between my multi, calcium, and an extra d3 that is 5000iu I was going to take 2 vitamin d's but she said not to since it was increasing so quickly. we would reevaluate at my next appointment.

Seems like your PA gets you, that's awesome. Keep taking your vitamins and trending your labs. Watching what happens between labs makes a world of difference on how to supplement. The D is coming quite nicely from the pre-op number.
