Airline travel and seatbelts

I havent traveled by plane in a long time and have a flight out in October.  I have lost quite a bit but I am still worried about me and DH fitting in the seats.  I am taking a US Airways Airbus 320 which has larger seats then most at 18 inches.  Anyone traveled recently?  at what length do you need an extender?  I'm worried more about DH then myself!

You probay will fit in without an extender. But if you feel you  need one just ask right when you get on the plane.I always figure if I ask for one and don't need it I will be great and if I do need one I already have it. I don't worry about people around me.Most people when they fly get on the plane and just shut their eyes. And if the flight attendant asks you to bring it back if you used it don't. If you don't need it make sure you say to them in passing I don't need this.I have flown a lot in the past few years and it can be heartbreaking to have to use it but I figure most people are on a mission when they get on the plane.

It depends where he carries his weight. Men seem to need them at a higher comparable weight then women depending on their tummies. But, if you need one, just ask politely and, usually, the flight attendant will be polite as well.

I bought a extender off of Ebay... When I was at my highest I just brought it with me in case I needed it... Sometimes I did and other times I didn't.   I carry my weight in my belly, my highest was 305 but I never got on the plane that weight I think I was 285 or so when I needed it.

I started needing one once I hit about 290 and I am 5'4, I carry most of my weight in my butt and legs, arms as well, so I got away without needing one until my last trip this past March. It depends where you carry your weight totally...

Ditto everything said about it depends where you carry your weight. I can honestly say I have never needed one and this was flying at my highest weight (303....5ft 6"). I travel a lot and have flown Southwest, Delta, US Air and United.

Again, I would ask when you get on just to make sure you are all set.

I flew in August and, at the time, I weighed 266.   On two planes, I did not need an extender, but I did on the other two.
